“The birth of Jesus Christ came about
when his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph,
but before they lived together, she was found with child
through the Holy Spirit.
Joseph her husband, since he was a righteous man,
yet unwilling to expose her to shame,
decided to divorce her quietly.
Such was his intention when, behold, the angel of the Lord
appeared to him in a dream and said,
'Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid
to take Mary your wife into your home.
For it is through the Holy Spirit
that this child has been conceived in her.'
When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord
had commanded him and took his wife into his home.”
(Matthew 1:18-20,24)
Dear Friends –
THE BIRTH OF JESUS CHRIST IS CHRISTMAS; that was the first step in Almighty God’s plan to redeem the world of its sins. Of all the ways God could have chosen to manifest Himself to the world, His selection of an infant lying in a manger was hardly the image the Jews were expecting of the much-prophesied Messiah that was to bring them salvation. But this precious little baby, brought forth in the poorest of conditions, was surrounded by the most emblematic of occurrences that made visible God’s right choice in presenting His Son to the world. One particular aspect of the infancy narrative shows us the parallel of His birth in our souls at Baptism. A newborn Christian, of any age, cannot assimilate all the spiritual being of Christ in one swoop… we must grow into that Being in stages from education and experience. It takes time to know and learn all the truths of God, which, as His child, will mature us into His image under His guidance, control, and plan for our lives. God works with our naturally inherited characteristics to guide a combination with His supernaturally imposed graces for the best lifestyle possible. Just as it took Christ years to mature into the Godly image, so will it be for us.
To help us reach that maturity, God places the dependent newborn with parents to provide the emotional and physical needs that all children require thus creating family life as the central purpose for existence. Like Saint Joseph, fatherhood is characterized as the physical provider and protector of the family, while the Blessed Virgin Mary represents motherhood being the nurturing parent for the spiritual well-being of the child. With perfect faith and unquestioning trust in Almighty God, Joseph and Mary embark on a path of life set out for them by Almighty God. Christian newlyweds do exactly the very same thing starting family life not knowing exactly where each day will take them, but in prayer and trusting God for guidance and direction, they will live the best life possible. Will it be easy? Certainly not, as witnessed in the first Holy Family where evil was a constant threat to their well-being, All Christian families since have been subjected to the same existence of evil ready to disrupt holy life. Saint Joseph was warned in dreams by an angel not to be afraid to take pregnant Mary as his wife and to take the family and flee to Egypt for safety. Christian parents may not have dreams or angels appearing to them, but they are just as informed in some Godly manner, what is the best choice to make and when to avoid evil… God truly does have ways of making His Will known to those who trust in Him. The continued growth of His image in our being is what cements our relationship with Him, and the more sincere our desire to seek His help and guidance, the more apparent He will make Himself known. Once that certainty of His intervention is experienced it is impossible to forget Him and go through life without Him.
Saint Joseph had no doubt of Almighty God’s existence, nor did he question the directions God gave him… he just did as commanded. We have lost that blind trust in God that Joseph exemplified because this current generation does all it came to nullify His reality and His incredible powers. May your birthday gift to Jesus this year be one of commitment to promoting His reality. Reach out to nonbelievers urging them to look into the manger at that beautiful infant and take Him into their hearts. Help them recognize all the innocence, purity, and virtue being a child of God represents… how could they not want that? We, like Joseph and Mary, must be willing to foster the growth of God’s child in whoever we can… we must provide and nurture their opportunity for rebirth… we must radiate the holy family.
SHAME ON YOU EVILDOERS
INFANTICIDE
To commit the act of killing an infant is beyond the realm of possibility for most people, and certainly out of the question for Christians. It’s not uncommon to read of a just-born infant abandoned in a public restroom, or one thrown into a dumpster to die… desperate people do desperate things. The hideousness of such a willful killing makes all mothers shudder; once you have held the beauty and helplessness of a precious newborn in your arms, the desire to love and protect takes over… aka motherly instinct. That is, however, not instinctive for all women, a cold heart can exist primarily in those who place themselves first at the expense of others. They have goals that will not accommodate any obstacle to achievement including an unwanted pregnancy.
Selfishness destroys right reasoning, especially in the nonbeliever, and excuses are manufactured to justify immoral behavior. God declared “Thou shalt not kill,” the Fifth Commandment, but man supplanted His edict with legalized abortion. The assumption that any hideous act such as rape or incest is grotesque enough to justify killing is additionally very wrong for it alleviates the pain of sacrifice that is required to pay for the debt of sin. Even when we are not the one responsible for the sin, Christians must be willing to pay the cost of redemption for that sin. When an evil is perpetrated against you, that will not justify in God’s eyes your necessity to react with another evil! Abortionists are making the baby sacrifice for their promiscuous sex instead of enduring the inconvenience and shame of immorality. Never, under any circumstances, should a baby be murdered for the convenience of a heartless woman… she is not only killing a part of herself, but she is also KILLING GOD’S CHILD for which His judgment assuredly will be most severe.
Parents who fail to Baptize their baby are indeed supernaturally denying their child life in God. Nonbelievers perpetrate their continuance with faithless children unless in later life, a Christian steps in to correct with religious education. The killing of your offspring, naturally or supernaturally, is a grave sin against God… repent for the sake of yourself and the child… find God before it’s too late for eternal peace.
