“They did not accord Him glory as God or give Him thanks.
Instead, they became vain in their reasoning,
and their senseless minds were darkened.
While claiming to be wise, they became fools.
They exchanged the truth of God for a lie
and revered and worshiped the creature
rather than the Creator.”
(Romans 1:21-22,25)
Dear Friends –
Nonbelievers in God are currently in the majority, and that is a depressing fact for Christians. Thanks to the surge in Relativism and government-enforced tolerance of immoral behavior, nonbelievers are thus provided the courage to be openly negative about God instead of just keeping their disbelief to themselves as in the past. Selfishness, me first is their priority, and to defend this ego-maniacal position, an offense of belligerent remarks is thrust at believers through distorted and manipulated religious truths. They know just enough of The Bible to use it to their advantage, or so they think. They can’t give honor, glory, and thanks to Almighty God so they must rebuke Him openly as not necessary to their self-centered lifestyle. They haven’t got time for God because they are so busy pursuing self-interests; they can get all sorts of toys, education, and skills developed, but they haven’t the slightest curiosity about God… such arrogant nonbelievers are called atheists.
The worst of these atheists don’t keep their disbelief private; a passionate vendetta is undertaken by many to obliterate belief in God. Stephen Hawking had a brilliant scientific mind, loved what he called the “rigid natural law” and tried and failed to use it to prove the non-existence of God. His “vain reasoning” failed to recognize Almighty God as the Creator of the natural world and its laws, as well as The Divine Intelligence behind both the natural and supernatural worlds. Stephen never comprehended that Almighty God has the power to control those “rigid natural laws” anytime He wants! Remember when God promised Noah a flood was coming? Well, it came, for forty days and forty nights by the hand of God… what He made, He certainly has control over. Another time, God promised a sign for Hezekiah that He would “make the sun’s shadow that falls on the stairway go back ten steps, so the sunlight went back the ten steps.” (Isaiah 38:8) The apostles saw Jesus defy natural law many, many times in miraculous cures; He calmed the sea and stopped the winds from buffeting their boat around, and another time He came walking to them on the sea… and most of all, He rose from death, from a “rigid natural law,” to prove immortality resides with Him. And don’t forget Our Blessed Lady who appeared to the children of Fatima, impressed upon them the need for prayer; showed them a vision of hell, and on her last appearance made the “Sun Dance over Fatima” which was recorded by the newspapers and believed by the thousands upon thousands who actually experienced the event. Mary also appeared to Bernadette Soubirous in Lourdes on several occasions, one of which she told the young girl to dig in the dirt. A stream appeared whose waters began to cure people of that time, and is still flowing and curing. Lourdes is a famous site of pilgrimage where seventy cures have occurred for people with incurable diseases… medical records validate disease ravished bodies with missing internal organs have been made whole once again, completely cured from a “rigid natural law” that marked them for death. All these mind-boggling occurrences by God defy His natural laws, because He wants too! His handiwork accomplishes the impossible, also called miracles, because He wants to love, answer prayers, and show Himself to those who can believe. Poor Stephen, who called heaven a “fairy story,” your logic was so twisted; you exchanged the truth of God for a lie and revered and worshiped the creature… science was your god, Stephen… claiming to be wise, you became a fool.
One of Christ’s most detailed parables explained the certainty of heaven and hell by the accounting of the rich man and the poor man Lazarus. They both died, and from the netherworld, the rich man saw Lazarus by the side of Abraham in heaven. “He cried out, Father Abraham, have pity on me. Send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am suffering torment in these flames.” Abraham replied, “A great chasm is established to prevent anyone from crossing who might wish to go from our side to yours or from your side to ours.” The rich man begged further: “Send him to my father’s house for I have five brothers, so that he may warn them, least they too come to this place of torment.” Abraham’s final reply, “If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone should rise from the dead.” (Luke 16:19:31) When Jesus tells you hell exists, that is the truth, He doesn’t lie. A recent TV commercial for the Freedom From Religion Foundation had Ron Reagan as their spokesperson; when he finished his spiel he closed with: “Not afraid of burning in hell.” I looked at that conceited, diabolical face on the TV and thought, “You poor stupid fool, just like “the rich man” you are going to find out too late the tortures of hell exists.” Another atheist on the fast track to hell is Bill Maher who constantly ridicules Almighty God and religious belief. He stated once, “I don’t know what happens when you die, and I don’t care.” Certainly, Stephen could have made a deathbed confession and been saved at the last moment, but only God knows. Great conversion stories are known, beginning with Saint Paul who worked feverishly to destroy belief, but in a flash, Almighty God can change a stone-cold heart and mind. “Nothing is impossible for Him.” The Creator of natural law never lost control of what He made… He can use or defy it any way He wants… and when He does, it’s called a MIRACLE! No human can create a miracle, or do the impossible, only the Eternal Omnipotent God. If you can’t believe that… can’t give Him honor and glory… then get ready to learn in hell eternal, He exists!.
The Nicene Creed
I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through Him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation He came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate, He suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and His kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds, from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins, and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.
NONBELIEVERS, LISTEN UP
What is your excuse for nonbelieving? Have you even tried? Have you read The Bible… gone to a church… asked a friend questions? Answers in the negative indicate a laziness, and that you couldn’t care less, and that none or few thoughts have ever entered your mind to the reality of God. Or perhaps you are curious, you have wondered about a Supreme Being, but you don’t know where to begin, and you lack the discipline to study on your own. You must have thought about heaven and hell at some point, especially if rattled by an accident or serious illness. Have you been so good, never done a serious wrong to another that you think good behavior alone will get you through the pearly gates? Well, it won’t. No matter how exemplary your life, we are all sinners, and consequences for our actions will be required by God who imposes reward or punishment for what we have done with the gift of life He has bestowed upon us. More importantly, no matter how righteous your existence, without expressed belief by baptism, you are automatically condemning yourself to hell eternal. One of the last things Christ did before leaving this earth was to send out His disciples to build up His Church and He said to them: “Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned.” (Mark 16:15-16) There you have it in that one statement, God’s bottom line, belief is rewarded, and disbelief is punished with eternal damnation.
The reality of Almighty God has not been kept a secret; His truths have been preached worldwide, therefore, ignorance is no longer an excuse. Observing the beauty and perfection of nature quite often will generate thoughts to the necessity of a Divine Intelligence behind it all, for a logical mind comprehends the complex order of life required a Designer. Perhaps a logical mind isn’t yours and studying is not your thing, well, you can read, so start with the parables of Christ in The New Testament. Reading The Bible from page one is not the way to begin and should be saved until later when familiarity with Christ is achieved. The morals of Christ’s stories lay bare God’s truths for behavior and salvation. Read them again and again until you have retrieved every delectable morsel in them… they will not disappoint you, I promise unless you are a complete idiot.
Once Christ has captured your curiosity with resolve, keep going! Find a church and discover what they have to offer… if you don’t like them, try another until you find the right fit… not all priests and pastors have the charisma to reach all. Don’t give up… attend their gatherings, enjoy the fellowship, and signup for Bible study if they offer one. And most of all pray… talk to God from your heart, be sincere, tell Him you want to learn but it is hard, would He please help you? Would He bring clarity to His words that you are reading? Would He please direct you to the right church for your needs? And of course, if you are honest with Him, He will! God is so delighted to have you show some interest, that He will do everything possible to make you understand… He doesn’t want to lose a single soul to the devil and He wants nothing more than to bring love, meaning, and salvation to your life. Who but God knows what will happen… He might even make you into a believer… imagine that!
