"For God so loved the world,

that he gave His only begotten Son,

that whoever believes in Him should not perish,

but have eternal life."

(John 3:16)

Dear Friends ~

Our Greatest Gift received is our being… our material and spiritual life… both created by Almighty God. When God The Father saw how drastically wrong this gift was being used, His infinite wisdom recognized the need for a physical teacher and savior for these creatures who couldn’t get it right without some help. That’s why He sent His only Son to show us “The Way, The Truth and The Life” and so Jesus Christ was born… CHRISTMAS DAY! The birth of Christ became God’s most sublime gift possible in order to establish and educate a naïve people to the proper direction and salvation of humanity. The Original Giver of Gifts that no one can surpass, is a God of such infinite love, we can only try to emulate such generosity by passing on that love, and thus, the exchange of gifts became a universal tradition established by the very first Christmas Gift, Jesus Christ.

Christians of today realize that we are expected at our birth into faith, to take the image of baby Jesus into our everyday being… to let Him grow and mature into a Christ-like replica that God The Father can look on with pride. Just as Mary and Joseph were turned away from lodgings for various reasons, so do humans still reject His birth under their roof and into their souls; the shepherds and wise men must still go about proclaiming His birth till the whole world acknowledges the reality and rightness of His Being. That is the greatest gift you can give to an unbeliever this Christmas; be a Joseph or Mary and carry Him to someone you know who needs to recognize the truth of His Being… be willing like Mary to endure all the difficulties of giving birth in order to see another Christ take shape… another child of God’s being born. Long ago and far away “THE” Christ was born, and that birth symbolizes what is required for His re-birth every day and moment of existence… a “yes” given like Mary and Joseph to be the foster parents of God… a “yes” to the union of heaven and earth (The Holy Spirit and you) uniting to produce good for the world… a “yes” to “parenting” a new soul to maturity through all the easy as well as hard times. When you value your gift of faith and walk in His image, you will also realize that it is a gift He does not want squandered. Christ’s parables tell us of the men, who going on a journey left their servants with money to trade with, as well as the landowner who planted a vineyard and leased it out expecting a return for his investment… but when those Masters, symbolically representing God Almighty, didn’t get the increase they required upon their return, the lazy servants got punishment while the good servants got rewarded and more entrusted to them.

Christians that have matured in the ways of Jesus know it is essential to make evident the reality of God The Father… pass on the gift of faith this Christmas to someone in need. Take time to see that all those you love really remember and honor His birthday properly as they renew His presence within themselves… make it a family priority by establishing holy traditions as part of the Advent season. Extend your gift giving into the community however your means can provide, to revitalize your part of the world with a reminder that it was first Almighty God’s love that cared, gave, and provided… you are simply investing and increasing, as required of you, His Gift of Love!

"It is more blessed to give than to receive," said Jesus

Acts 20:35

Giving is the right thing to do obviously and it has its own rewards built in as we see the joy reflected by the recipient. But let us focus on receiving for just a moment… getting that much sought after present we wanted so desperately is pure heaven! Children to adults have been writing down their Christmas wish lists for others to notice for some time now, but as you dream for all those material things, don’t forget to make a wish list for Almighty God to take notice of for those desires that only He can supply. If you need strength to get through a sorrow, patience for being overextended, or courage to fight off injustice, whatever, ask Him for those spiritual gifts that will do you much more good than any gift you will receive under the tree. God promised: “Ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened…” Why on earth would God tell you to ask if He had no intention of supplying… that’s ridiculous! He is not going to slam the door in your face or put stumbling blocks on your path through darkness… you are His child that He loves and He wants to give to you only that which is for your good. If you want to Thank Him for those gifts or give the baby Jesus a birthday present, then remember what Christ said: “Whatever you do for the least of my brethren you do for me.” So give… give to the needs of others near and far, rich and poor… give to Him, through them, for all He has given to you and He will delight in your thoughtfulness.

CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS

The details of Christ’s birthday as sketched out in The Bible, are so well known to Christians and non-Christians alike, that a silhouette of the nativity scene in Bethlehem with the glorious star overhead, is an easily recognizable symbol of this holy season. Other visible signs like decorated Christmas trees, wreaths and stockings for this joyous season evolved over time but the one specifically credited for best manifesting God’s giving was Saint Nicholas, (15 March 270 – 6 December 343). Born in Asia Minor to wealthy devout Christian parents, who unfortunately died when he was a young man leaving him to be reared by his uncle the Bishop of Patara, who later ordained him as a priest. Nicholas was determined to use his considerable inheritance for the betterment of the poor and his acts of kindness were well known and varied during his role as Bishop of Myra. The most popular tradition holds that when the Bishop heard of the poor Father who was going to turn out his three daughters to slavery or prostitution because he could offer no dowry for their marriage, the Bishop had to act, but he did so anonymously. He took three bags of gold coins and tossed them through a window at night while everyone was sleeping. Since it was the custom of the time to leave ones wet stockings and shoes by the fire at night to dry out, luck would have it that the Bishop’s gifts landed in those shoes and socks… and thus began the giving of gifts in the name of Saint Nicholas, particularly in Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands. The bodily remains of the Saint were transferred somewhere around 1087 to Bari, Italy, and along with the relics went the legends spreading the traditions even further. December 6th is the Feast Day for Saint Nicholas and his secret gift-giving is continued by putting coins and gifts in children’s shoes that are left out at night. The Dutch brought these traditions to America and writers and advertisers in the capitalistic manner transferred Saint Nicholas, from the Dutch Sinterklaas to Santa Claus, and the red robes of the Bishop turned into a red suit for the jolly old man who brought gifts during the night.

In 1822, Clement Moore wrote a Christmas poem for the amusement of his children, “A Visit from St. Nicholas,” later published as “Twas the Night Before Christmas.” Children and parents alike to this day, can recite those lyrical words verbatim through old age… “The stocking were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that Saint Nicholas soon would be there…” Bastardized versions of this epic poem have come upon the market obliterating any connection to the historic Saint Nicholas. Just so, have the proponents of secularism, humanism, relativism and other “isms” all tried to remove any recognition of Christ in Christmas… xmas is written by many striking out Christ… and that is so dastardly wrong. Traditions are important, and more so their truths; Christians must fight to keep alive the real meaning of all holy seasons. Don’t just silently boycott those businesses that can’t say “Merry Christmas” or display the crèche, but chastised them by pointing out that their politically correct behavior is so wrong by not portraying the true holy nature of Christmas… let them know such action requires your never doing business with them. Teach your children the integrity of holding on to the real meaning of Christmas and establish family traditions and rituals that will be cherished for many years to come… Jesus is the reason for the season… nothing else.

Jesus Christ

is the Light of the world.

Oh come let us adore Him.
