"GOD SO LOVED the world..."
(John 3:16)
Dear Friends –
Our Creator and Heavenly Father, demonstrated His immense capacity for love the moment existence of life began, and it began with a universe so vast, scientists are nowhere near comprehending its complexities, nor are most of them capable of understanding the power of that first cause, an Eternal God. We are told in the opening chapters of Genesis, how Almighty God worked diligently to fashion a pure and perfect world for humanity, replete with every need more than amply met for beautiful human existence. This magnificent creative effort was not for His own amusement but presented as a loving gift to the first man and woman He created, Adam and Eve, who He placed in the opulent Garden of Eden. Immediately we get caught up in the drama of Original Sin and its repercussions, and quickly lose sight of God’s original idea of what His planned relationship with humanity was supposed to be… friendship… a personal relationship of love. As He fashioned the animals, God brought them to Adam for response and naming, while ultimately sensing the need for more suitable companionship than animals, He fashioned Adam a wife. This first example we see of God’s sensitivity to man’s needs was the start of His ever-growing reputation of being a faithful God, cognizant and caring. God
conversed with these two humans, walked in the cool of the evening with them in the Garden until the rebellion when they hid from Him. Certainly, God was disappointed, He had wanted an exchange of love with His creation, a daily interaction with the work of His hands, but even after imposing the necessary banishment from the Garden as the consequences of their sin, He still continued to love and care for them and every generation since… because God SO loved.
By His selflessly endowing mankind with a free will, Almighty God chose not to be a demanding dictator of serfs, but rather a Heavenly Father whose children created in His Image would comprehend and choose His dictates for the best life possible. He even selected the Jewish people as His elect group to work with and form into the model for all future nations to follow. Amidst all the ups and downs of taking these people through the formation process as outlined in the Old Testament, Almighty God never gave up on this rebellious society that so often went through periods of sin, supplication, and salvation. Things got so bad at one point, however, God was sorry that He had ever made mankind, and He obliterated His creation with a flood, saving a righteous few in an ark that would repopulate a cleansed world that He had to discipline. Thereafter, God constantly communicated with many prophets for the instruction of the people to His ways; at the same time, He diligently rewarded and reprimanded right and wrong behavior, to the point that His reality and power became well known by all the Jewish people, and then some.
All the magnificent miracles or deeds of Divine Providence performed in the Old Testament, proved God to be the Omnificent, Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent Supreme Being that He is, alongside displays of His emotional character of great extremes, from loving-kindness and mercy to fury and wrathful anger. God did not remain hidden from the world to let His creation operate on its own but rather took on a very active participation in its cultural evolution. He interceded and responded to man’s constant need for assistance, all because of His great love for mankind, and He still oversees and works for its’ continued success and happiness as any loving father would. The secular world that dominates today’s existence relegates this Almighty God to the pages of history instead of recognizing Him for the great “I Am” that He is, for all of eternity. Without the Holy Spirit residing in their being, these nonbelievers continually desecrate the perfect world He created, and for that deliberate disregard for the work of His hands, they will not receive love and mercy, but wrathful anger with eternal damnation… that’s assured for He is still very much involved in the day-to-day operation of His creation. The Apostle John witnessed the immense love of Almighty God firsthand, and in writing about that love, he was impelled to use the grammatical intensive so, meaning extreme… thus, let the enormous capacity of His heart enter your being this Easter for a renewed personal relationship with your Creator… a Heavenly Father that loves you sooo much!
"…He gave His one and only Son,
that everyone who believes in Him
shall not perish but have eternal life."
(John 3:16)
So much generous love and steadfast commitment within Almighty God is what kept Him on track to redeem a fallen world by sending His only Son as the sacrificial lamb. No one but Jesus Christ was the spotless unblemished offering required, and The Son willingly submitted to God The Father’s request and left Divinity to become human… The God-Man. He walked this earth in a public ministry that lasted a little over three years, and never has there been, nor will there be, any such teaching and sacrifice to surpass Christ’s worldwide effect, and the extent to which His perfect actions will remain is eternal! All other influencers down through the ages have ended in total demise… only Jesus underwent a resurrection. Christ was the brilliant light that pierced through the darkness of immorality, and through His preaching illuminated that faithful right conduct was rewarded while continued degradation only led to damnation… something only He could say and promise as The Son of God, The Word made flesh.
Almighty God faced rejection time-after-time in the Old Testament; prophet-after-prophet relayed His words and they often suffered cruelly for His rejection by the people, but still, He never gave up finally sending His only Son. Who better than the Son could attest to the Supremacy of God Almighty… no one, but yet He too was rejected… humiliated, tortured, crowned with thorns, crucified, speared in the side, all to suffer and die a brutal death to save civilization. A death that brought life… eternal life for all who would finally believe Jesus was the Son of God, the one and only God, The Alpha and The Omega, who has the power to resurrect His Son and all God’s children to an eternal heavenly existence. Christ’s love and trust in The Father knew with certainty that when He left heaven to be rejected and crucified, He would absolutely return to Heaven by the power of The Father… so great was the love between these two, they each gave it their all to prove their reality and power once and for all. Who but God, who had created life, could not but restore life? Restoring it was the promise for believing in this majestic act of love, which would earn for the faithful a place in God’s eternal kingdom.
Easter Sunday is the greatest event in the church calendar because it validates, beyond reproach, everything that God promised or prophesized about a redeemer who would bring good from evil… who would atone for the sin committed by Adam and Eve… who would prove the reality and power of a Supreme God worthy of our love. God loved us first, never gave up on us but persistently kept after us until He was sure He had the way in which we would not perish, but have eternal life with Him in heaven above. His infinite love understood and honestly felt by us, should be returned with gratitude extended every way possible by living love, giving love… and now that you realize from the pages of history that The Creator’s original plan was to have a personal relationship with you, and still want’s that… enjoy it, because God so loves!
