“The Sabbath was made for man,

not man for the Sabbath,” said Jesus.

(Mark 2:27)

Dear Friends ~

Creator God, who is our Heavenly Father, is so misconceived by the secular culture as some sort of tyrannical despot who demands obedience to unfair rules, when in reality those rules are mostly for our good, not His!   Yes, He requires we acknowledge His Supremacy with respect, and why shouldn’t He?  Realize, really comprehend, He, and He alone gave us life, a very comfortable and provided for material existence…. but, as our Spiritual Father, He really comes through with provisions for metaphysical happiness available nowhere else!  And for that, why shouldn’t He be respected and acknowledged!  By His Supreme ranking in the cosmos, He is entitled to govern, but that office is administered not by a dictator, but a father… a father who loves and cares for His children, spiritual progeny who acknowledge His being and return His love which was extended first.

Jesus constantly exemplified God The Father in His actions and words to show that the invisible Supreme Being is genuine love, a constant and cognizant provider who is available 24/7.  While The Father may have commanded that we “Keep Holy the Sabbath” in order to maintain the respect due Him, it is more so for our benefit because of the spiritual rejuvenation it appropriates for us.  We need that day of rest just as God took for Himself after creating our world!  So, when Jesus says the Sabbath, a day of respectful leisure, was made for man, He means The Father prioritized righteous pleasure a requirement for man, and not that man was made only to exist for righteous service to Almighty God!  God created us in His image, which means we belong to His Family, His heirs He wants success and happiness for, not the dominance of Master and slave!  As Creator of everything, we can give Almighty God nothing that He doesn’t already have; we can give Him naught but our love,  which is what He greatly desires and rejoices in… our freely offered belief, faith, trust in Him with love and gratitude for His efforts is all He wants, but never demands.

The immensity of God’s love for us shows in creation’s material and spiritual perfection while we were given a free will to acknowledge Him or not… freedom of choice came first from Almighty God…  we were not created like puppets or slaves to be manipulated for His purposes or pleasure, which is what a true dictator would do.  We were created for our own uniquely fingerprinted existence searching for happiness with the help of a Heavenly Father who would serve our needs, not necessarily the other way around.  Yes, there are some of us who choose with our free will to serve that Almighty God out of love and in recognition of proclaiming His truths, for the knowledge of God acting in one's life once experienced cannot be denied, only revealed.

The secular culture exists to gratify self, which is just the opposite of true love that cares for another first… that is why they don’t understand a God of love who gives, not takes!  They can’t possibly comprehend in their ignorance that His rules are not for dominance, but rather as guidelines that will benefit our behavior and us, not Him!  They conjure up all sorts of ludicrous assumptions of what they think He is rather than studying and reading the revelations of what He truly is!  If they studied, really studied His truths, the logic of His Being would be made evident, something a closed-mind is unwilling to pursue.  A growing selfish culture that can’t think past self,  that does only for self,  will find itself in a hellish existence some day… burnt out by self-indulgence… all because they ignored His rules for life and unknowingly chose eternal hell-fire death instead. To those who are His children and willingly seek to honor The Father, they will find that an Almighty God of such love has in store for them much more than a Sabbath day of rest, but an eternity of Heavenly bliss, which can begin anytime, even here on earth.

“To be a Christian without prayer

is no more possible than to be alive without breathing.”

Martin Luther

Conversation with God must become second nature in your mind’s thoughts when you are mulling something over or trying to make a decision. Let Him help you organize the concepts troubling you, arranging the proper ones in order and discarding the worthless; and from that chaos, solutions seem to take form with God’s influence guiding you continually.  Prayer may be the asking...   but meditation is the listening…   do them both and breathe in Almighty God.

Breathe On Me by Edwin Hatch
Breathe on me, breath of God, / Fill me with life anew, / That I may love what thou dost love, /And do what thou wouldst do.
Breathe on me, breath of God, / Until my heart is pure, / Until with thee I will one will, / To do and to endure.
Breathe on me, breath of God, / Till I am wholly thine, / Till all this earthly part of me / Glows with thy fire divine.
Breathe on me, breath of God,  / So shall I never die,/   But live with thee the perfect life / For all eternity.

THE GENEROSITY OF GOD

If someone gave you a birthday gift, whether you liked it or not, you would certainly thank them.  But what if it wasn’t your birthday or any other particular occasion for a gift, and you were given a spectacular present that you really wanted, just because that someone liked you…  wouldn’t you be overjoyed by their spontaneous demonstration of affection? Of course you would!   Well then, that is just what our response should be when we realize all the gifts Almighty God has bestowed upon us, starting with our life and all the material and spiritual gifts made available to sustain that life, which are in reality, spectacularly generous demonstrations of His genuine affection.  There is nothing miserly about God in His endowment of a physical world to meet our needs, for it is far from a sterile, simple functioning task oriented environment, but rather one that bubbles over with eye-catching beauty, delightful aromas, and breathtaking grandeur that generously satiates our physical and spiritual palates.  There are no loose ends in creation, God thought of everything we would possibly need and He built in the mechanics of perpetual reproduction for those items so we would never run out… and that’s called perfection… only God has it!   If He didn’t love and care for us, if He wasn’t so generous to our needs, then life would be a big fat blah if God’s Divine Intelligence and Love wasn’t behind it all!

The character of Almighty God is put on display so vividly in nature for all to see if they just looked.  No half-hearted effort anywhere in His endeavors, from brilliant colors to the softest of pastels, we see passion instilled into His creation with such distinct thoroughness… the relationships between species is supportive even to a necessary food-chain that provides sustenance for all living things. Not all flowers are the precursor to fruit, for some were created just for the sheer joy of beauty to take in with such aroma that the soul can’t help but smile. God speaks to our emotions all over His created world; from mountain-tops that display grandeur as far as the eye can see, to the ocean floor where the vibrantly decorated tropical fish dances through multi-colored, sculptured sea plants… He is the Finest Artist, the Supreme Engineer, the Master Gardener, a Superb Musician that gives the seas and the invisible wind a melody that can delight or petrify!  For all the magnificent natural creations, it is in the supernatural world where He really outdoes Himself.

If Almighty God can be so obviously generous and caring to our physical needs, why then is it so hard for humanity to transpose that same caliber of love to His meeting our spiritual needs?  Because it is mostly a blindness of mind and heart that won’t think or reason things out… self-absorption won’t reach out past self to know Almighty God and so we end up with a narcissistic society.   Our Heavenly Father doles out courage, perseverance, endurance, integrity, wisdom, modesty, virtue, and much more to His children whose prayerful requests reach Him instantly, for we are much more important to Him than any other living earthly thing.  Whatever we need, He’s got it… His connections are world wide so nothing is beyond His grasp… His love for you is so perfect there is nothing righteous He will deny you… all you have to do is ask!  He has a most generous heart, remember that!

Take Time for Spiritual Repose

“In this summer period many have left the city and find themselves at tourist sites or in their homeland for their vacations. My wish for them is that this awaited rest serves to strengthen their mind and body, which, given the hectic course of modern existence, daily undergoes a continuous fatigue and strain. The holidays also afford a precious opportunity to spend more time with relatives, to visit family and friends, in a word, to give more space to those human contacts whose desired cultivation is impeded by the rhythm of daily duties.  For many, vacation time becomes a profitable occasion for cultural contacts, for prolonged moments of prayer and of contemplation in contact with nature or in monasteries and religious structures.  Having more free time, one can dedicate oneself more easily to conversation with God, meditation on Sacred Scripture, and reading some useful, formative book.  Those who experience this spiritual repose know how useful it is not to reduce vacations to mere relaxation and amusement."                                        Pope Benedict XVI
